Religion has been on my brain lately. Mostly because it seems half of the blogs I come across using the next blog button is about how somebody found Jesus. Today I came across this article (it is a long but an interesting read) that actually helped me focus my thoughts on what I have been feeling about religion.
Events over the last couple of years have made me question the role of religion in my life. I used to go to church every Sunday like a good little Christian. I stopped doing that a little over a year ago. While I am certainly not an atheist I am going down the path of agnosticism. In the article author Sam Harris found the words that I have been feeling but not able to articulate. To me following an organized religion is the “denial of tangible reality.”
As we continue learn about the universe around us it becomes less plausible that God exists in the way we have been taught. My believe is that there is some higher power but how and where it exists is something that is an evolving mystery.
